Current mood: pissed off

and the mountains shall tremble...
Responding to the silent call of the Valar, Tulkas stands atop the Mountains of the Pelori. He gazes over the vast exspanse of the kingdom of Ulmo, seeing the first handiwork of the Pourer and Manwe, Lord of Arda. Funneling the fires of his inner rage into his curled fists, he pummels the mountainside. The force of the blow coupled with the rage of Astaldo sends shockwaves all across the face of Middle Earth.

Deep within his mountain halls, Aulë Mahal was hard at work in his forges, crafting a large dish of steel into just the right shape. It was delicate work, taking a great deal of time and patience. His hammer was pounding out the interior when suddenly, he heard a strange sound. A rumbling of sorts.

Aulë had just enough time to move the steel drum head off the forge before a large chunk of the ceiling fell into the fire below.

The tremors lasted only an instant. Aulë set the drum head down and looked around, twirling his hammer to calm his nerves. Even Valar get surprised, especially when they are nearly the victims of a cave-in. Nothing appeared to be damaged; nothing that wouldn't take him more than a few minutes to repair, anyway. Quite certain he hadn't built his halls on a fault line, Aulë wondered what else could have caused that strange earthquake. When the answer came to him a few heartbeats later, he wondered why he hadn't thought of it earlier.

Tulkas.

The Smith set down his hammer and headed for the surface.

The Valar have the ability to commune in silent thought. Join me my brother, he calls out to Aule Mahal. Come let the earth groan under our anger and might.

Aulë, having crafted the earth with his own two hands, was a little hesitant. He had much to be angry about as well, but was this really how he wanted to channel his anger?

Astaldo, he thought, release not your rage upon the land.

A tranquil island is situated amidst a calm sea. An ancient volcano slumbers on this uninhabited isle. Linking his mind with his brother Valar, Tulkas connects with the burning magma with the volcano's crater. As his rage rises so does the level of the magma, until the mountain explodes in a hellish inferno of lava.

In Aulë's eyes dances the fire of an erupting volcano. The Smith's anger was like that volcano... building up inside until there was too much to be contained. And it was not going to end there.

Shifting his attention to the kingdom of Doriath, he envisions the mountains to the north of the elven kingdom in his mind's eye. He raised a fisted hand in anger and gestures in the direction of the mountains. The sheer magnitude of his rage causes an avalanche on the summit of one of the highest peaks. Then he focuses his awareness to the base of the mountain, he unleashes his wrath upon it. The mountain begins to crumble from below and rocks rain and crash down to the plain below.

The power to crush a mountain with just a thought.

That was the kind of power the Valar possessed. To create and destroy at will. He gave the world its shape, and he could take it away.

Where once was a mountain now stood a pile of rubble, soon to crumble into dust and blow away in the wind.

And he still didn't feel any better.

Sauron's head would please him, but as that was still a bit out of reach, he would settle for the next best thing.

The name of Sauron left the bitter taste of bile in his mouth. The one being he loathed more than Melkor was his flunky Sauron. He knew that the worm had betrayed Aule to serve Morgoth. Tulkas had no inkling as to where in Arda Sauron was slinking about, yet brining down his old forge would be a good symbolic gesture. He threw back his hand and laughed at the thought of destroying something that Sauron once treasured.The old forge of Sauron was located to the southern reaches Valinor. With the force of his will he caused the foundations of the structure to tremble. Half of the structrue remained, yet half of Sauron's old haunt remained standing. Grinning with glee, he thought to Mahal, I believe you should finish this one personally.

And so I shall.

Space and time were below him, and an instant later, he was standing amid what remained of Sauron's forge. He raised his arms, and the rest crumbled down around him.

When the dust settled, he was gone.

Tulkas, Aule...both of you - keep it subtle. This is the world not a punching bag with Sauron's face on it, hmm?

Content with the havoc unleashed by his rage, Tulkas cools his wrath before the calm presence of the Lord Manwe. My Lord, we have done our part to alert the children of Iluvatar to the current situation. Also we had to remove a remnant of Sauron from the face of Valinor. At the last words, he grinned.
